Rims Barber participated in the Mississippi Freedom Summer Project in 1964 and returned to Mississippi with the Delta Ministry in 1965. He became their Education Director in 1966 and settled in Greenville, Mississippi. Later, he helped establish a Jackson office to assist Representative Robert Clark and to work on statewide agendas.
